This is the digital portfolio and blog of Ekerete Akpan, a Nigerian web developer with six years commercial experience building interactive websites in both creative and corporate settings.
I build elegant, usable websites and interfaces that account for speed, accessibility and readability using web standards.
My primary focus is on:
- Web aplication development
- Interface design
- Web content management
My skillset includes XHTML, CSS, Javascript, AJaX, XML, PHP, MySQL, Ruby on Rails and a knowledge of web accessibility guidelines and standards compliance.
The Site
This site runs off WordPress, my favourite web content publishing platform.
Naoki (who does all the design work for me) made a custom layout which I converted to a WordPress theme. WordPress is really flexible and I had no issues adding a few modifications to the base installation. The site is coded in XHTML Translational with the layout and presentation done in CSS in keeping with current web standards.
The site was developed using Dreamweaver and Fireworks on a Dell XPS M1210 which is powerful enough to use as my primary home system (hooked up to a 22″ monitor) and light enough to carry around regularly.
